“Gulliver\'sTravels” is an imaginary story written by the English Author, Jonathan Swift,in 1726. The story is a political satire that is related to the rights of theindividual, democracy and the regime. The story’s protagonistis the Surgeon Doctor, Gulliver, who travels across extraordinary lands inwhich he meets people living in bizarre societies and encounters even morebizarre incidents.

The storyconsists of four parts each of which tells the specifics of each of the fourvoyages. These voyages altogether took him fifteen years to complete, and heused to come back to Britain after each voyage just to embark on the next one.

The First Voyage:Gulliver sails onboard a ship heading to the east. Unfortunately, the shipcrashes and is wrecked by a massive storm. Gulliver is washed ashore after theshipwreck and finds himself tied up with ropes by a race of tiny people whowere 15 centimeters tall; they then take him to prison. After a while, Gulliverquickly learns their language and meets the King of their land.

That land,known as “Lilliput”, was divided between two parties: The first one insists onfollowing the tradition of their ancestors by wearing high-heel shoes, whereasthe followers of the other party prefer wearing low heel shoes. The emperor’sgrandfather, then in command of the country, commanded all Lilliputians tobreak their eggs on the small end first. He made this decision after breakingan egg in the old way, large end first, and cutting his finger. But the peoplerevolt against the King and flee to another country named “Blefuscu” which theKing of Lilliput decides to attack. Gulliver assists the King in taking overBlefuscu’s fleet but he refuses to take the inhabitants of that island as prisoners.As a result, the King of “Lilliput” decides to imprison Gulliver again.Gulliver escapes to “Blefuscu” where he lives a couple of months beforeescaping to the sea in an old boat. In the end, a passing British ship findshim and returns him back to Britain.

TheSecond Voyage: Gulliver sets off toIndia but faces a strong storm on the way and is forced to sail for land. Hefinds himself on a strange land called “Brobdingnag” where he is found by agiant farmer. The farmer takes Gulliver with him. To his surprise, Gulliverdiscovers that he is in the land of the giants. He looked as if he is 15centimeters tall compared to these giants, judging from Gulliver estimating aman\'s step being 10 meters. Insects, birds and dogs were all larger than him;cats were the size of mules. The farmer presents Gulliver to his daughter asgift whom she keeps as a toy. After that he is given to the Queen where heexplains to her and to the King the royal regimes in Britain and Europe. TheKing is not happy with Gulliver\'s accounts of Europe, so he orders sending himback to Britain.

TheThird Voyage: Gulliver sails east wherehe is attacked by pirates and is marooned close to a desolate rockyisland near India. Fortunately, he is rescued by the flying islandof Laputa, a kingdom devoted to the arts of music and mathematics wherescientists live. The name of this Kingdom is “Balnibarbi”in which Gulliver sees the Grand Academy and witnesses the role of scientiststhere who can hear the sounds made by stars, and uncover political conspiraciesby examining the excrement of suspicious persons. Gulliver awaits a trader whocan take him on to Japan. While waiting for a passage, Gulliver takes a shortside-trip to the island of “Glubbdubdrib”. In Japan Gulliver meets theEmperor after which he returns back to Britain.

TheFourth Voyage: On this voyage, Gulliveris involved in a dispute between the sailors and the Captain, and after keepinghim contained for some time they resolve to leave him on a remote island wherehe comes upon a race of hideous, deformed and savage humanoid creatures called“Yahoos”. There he meets a type of horses that speak the language of“Houyhnhnms” which means “the perfection of nature”; these horses are therulers of the island. Gulliver comes to admire the “Houyhnhnms”, especiallywhen comparing them with the human being and the Yahoos who pose a threat tocivilization. Houyhnhnms rules that Gulliver is a danger to their civilization,and expel him. He is then rescued by a Portuguese ship and head back again toBritain.
