Electra is a tragedy by the ancient Greek playwright Euripides . Electra was the daughter of King Agamemnon and Queen Clytemnestra of Mycenae in Greek mythology . She was the sister of Iphigenia and Chrysothemis, as well as Orestes . It tells the tale of Electra and her brother, Orestes, as they take their revenge on their mother, Clytemnestra, for her murder of their father, Agamemnon . Electra is one of the most popular mythological characters in tragedies . She is the main character in two Greek tragedies, Electra by Sophocles and Electra by Euripides . Euripides makes Clytemnestra’s murder appear a horrible act .
